Have you ever thought about having an in-home engagement session? I love photographing couples all around the San Francisco Bay Area, from Sutro Baths and Baker Beach to the Palo Alto Baylands or Gamble Gardens… but there’s something particularly special and intimate about photographing couples in their own homes! In case you need some convincing, here are 8 reasons why an in-home couples session is pretty much the best thing ever!

1 – You’ll be more comfortable.

You’re incredibly familiar with your home. Even if you aren’t used to having your pictures taken, being at home will help you relax quickly.

2 – Home is where the heart is.

I know that sounds cheesy, but it’s true. I always tell my couples to pick a location that has meaning to them, and what better place than at home? You have made so many memories there and they will shine through when you look back at the photos.

3 – We can capture your favorite activities.

Do you love eating ice cream together? Maybe you love cooking together? Or maybe you have jam sessions or piece puzzles together. No matter what special thing you two do together, it’ll be fun to have some photos of it. Doing something fun and familiar will also be a great way to help you relax and forget about the camera!

4 – There’s no need to worry about weather!

Rain or shine, I can find beautiful light indoors. I love photographing couples on the beach or in beautiful fields, but I am always crossing my fingers that there will be some sun. With an in-home session, if it rains, you two can just cuddle up under a blanket with some hot chocolate. 🙂

5 – If you have pets, they can get in the frame too!

Many of the beautiful locations outdoors don’t allow for pets, so in-home sessions are a great way to incorporate your furry family members.

6 – These photos will be a time capsule of your home.

Whether this is your starter home or the home you are going to raise a family in together, there will be changes! The photos we capture will always remind you of your home as it is today and the wonderful times you have had there.

7 – Everything you own is right there!

This means if you want to change outfits or incorporate a meaningful item it will be quick and easy.

8 – Having an in-home session captures a snapshot of your every day life.

This is a wonderful way to get beautiful photos of the little things that you do together every day. Maybe the first one awake puts toothpaste on the other person’s toothbrush. Maybe you always cuddle together before getting out of bed.
