And thanks for stopping by! My work reflects my desire to add some whimsy, enchantment and beauty to the world. It is my way of sharing a bit of my heart. I love the laughter and smiles, but I am also drawn to the quiet, intimate moments that are filled with emotion. My goal is to capture the essence of your wedding day, all the little things that come together to paint the big picture.
It’s always more fun to have an engagement session with dogs! Even better, this was an in home engagement session. I love in home engagement sessions for the intimate, relaxed feel they have. I do admit, however, I sometimes miss the creamy golden backlight that most of my outdoor engagement sessions have. Luckily, this couple has an incredible balcony with some beautiful trees around it so we got the best of both worlds!
When J contacted me, one of her biggest requests was to have their sweet dogs included in the engagement session. One of their dogs is incredibly calm, but the other dog is a bit more excitable. I have done engagement sessions with dogs at Windy Hill and Baker Beach before, but J knew that having a session in their home would be a bit easier.
It ended up being the perfect choice. I totally fell in love with their home during the session! Everything was beautifully decorated and so well coordinated. I loved the pops of yellow that were scattered all throughout the house, from the pillows on the couch in the living room to the bedspread to the pillows on their balcony. Even more fun were all the pops of teal and blue that actually match J’s ring!
We ended up spending most of the session on the balcony because the light was just incredible. It was filtered by the hills and trees in the background, creating the most amazing golden light. Since it’s January, we have had quite a bit of rain here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Luckily, even though it rained most of the week before, it cleared up for the session. There were just a few clouds in the sky, allowing for an incredible silhouette.
The pups were so much fun to be around during the session. It took a little bit of bribery to get some of the shots, but I loved capturing the joy that exuded from J + L when they were playing with the dogs! So if you’re thinking about having an engagement session with dogs, I would highly recommend it!
