I wanted to show you our Christmas table setting, because it was just gorgeous! This Christmas, we had a prime rib dinner (yum! I’m a huge lover of prime rib and steak in general. When we went to Vegas at the beginning of the month, we went to two buffets and Sam was thoroughly impressed by how much prime rib I was able to eat at the Bellagio, haha!) at my sister’s place with her husband, her sister in law, and our parents. My Christmas gift to my sister this year was a full set of gold-rimmed plates and bowls from West Elm and I bought myself several sets of gold flatware from CB2, so I knew I wanted to set the table and make it as pretty as possible! To go with the Christmas theme, I made some red, white and gold paper flowers. This was my first time making a crepe paper dahlia and I think they turned out quite well! I used 60gram crepe paper, which is a lot lighter weight and isn’t as stretchy as fine Italian crepe paper… but it’s so delicate it looks a lot like real petals. I’m planning on starting another series (in addition to the photography tutorials!) on paper flower DIY tutorials, so I’ll be back with a paper dahlia tutorial soon! We also needed vases to put the flowers in, so we ended up making some from a soy sauce bottle, a patron bottle, and a martini mix bottle! We just added a little spray glue and glitter and we were good to go!
