And thanks for stopping by! My work reflects my desire to add some whimsy, enchantment and beauty to the world. It is my way of sharing a bit of my heart. I love the laughter and smiles, but I am also drawn to the quiet, intimate moments that are filled with emotion. My goal is to capture the essence of your wedding day, all the little things that come together to paint the big picture.
We were lucky enough to have two days in Lisbon, Portugal back in January. For suggestions and thoughts on the best things to do in Lisbon, Portugal, check out my two day Lisbon Travel Guide. My favorite thing we did in Lisbon was visit Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, one of the main sightseeing attractions in Lisbon. It’s absolutely gorgeous, with incredible architecture… something that is super common in Europe and less so in the US! It will cost you €10 to get into the monastery, but if you’re planning on seeing the Belem Tower, you can get a combined ticket for €12. Make sure you get there earlier in the day though, as they stop selling the combined tickets around 3PM.
There’s a chapel right at the entrance of Mosteiro dos Jerónimos that has free admission, but I highly suggest paying the additional fee to go into the monastery. I loved all the intricate carving and beautiful arches paired with the smooth stone floors. If I lived in Lisbon, I would totally do engagement sessions there! It was the perfect rainy day activity as well, since it is mostly covered. There’s an open courtyard in the middle, but the beauty of the monastery really lies in the beautifully carved arches covered with leaves, vines and other decorative details.
One of the reasons I love traveling with my sister and brother-in-law? I get to coerce them into modeling for me in beautiful places. I spent our entire visit to the monastery directing my sister and brother-in-law into pretty pockets of light. I was particularly excited when the sun came out at the end of our visit, making for some really fun dappled light.
Even if you only have a day in Lisbon, you need to check out Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. The only other thing you /have/ to do is get pastel de nat at Manteigaria! Let me know if you end up visiting either!
