And thanks for stopping by! My work reflects my desire to add some whimsy, enchantment and beauty to the world. It is my way of sharing a bit of my heart. I love the laughter and smiles, but I am also drawn to the quiet, intimate moments that are filled with emotion. My goal is to capture the essence of your wedding day, all the little things that come together to paint the big picture.
This Loomis Flower Farm wedding is particularly special to me, because the mother of the bride is a dear friend! Lisa told all of us fellow mentors for Click & Company about Kelly’s engagement immediately. I was lucky enough to photograph Kelly and Zach’s engagement session. A couple weeks later, Kelly got in touch to ask me to be their wedding photographer! Of course I said yes!!
I love weddings (obviously), so I actually chatted with Lisa about wedding plans long before becoming the wedding photographer. Lisa told me Kelly wanted an outdoor wedding surrounded by lots of trees and nature. I actually sent them a few of my favorite venues in the area (like OVY Camp + Event Center) that fit the description. Kelly and Zach ended up choosing the Loomis Flower Farm as their wedding venue and it was pretty perfect! Just a few minutes from where they live, the Loomis Flower Farm is such a charming venue absolutely surrounded by lush greenery. The most adorable gypsy chickens wander freely and there are fruit trees everywhere!
The Northern California weather right before the wedding was scorching hot, so I was shocked to see scattered thunderstorms in the forecast for the wedding day. Kelly and Zach planned to have their ceremony outside on the lawn, under a huge tree… and there wasn’t really a good backup plan! So we all crossed our fingers and refreshed the weather page several times every day, haha.
On the wedding day, it started sprinkling about two hours before the ceremony. As Kelly got ready, the rain came and went. We were getting increasingly nervous until literally a few minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start. Luckily, we watched as a small patch of blue in the sky grew and grew, until the sun broke through and the thunderstorm passed us over! Kelly’s sister and maid of honor helped carry Kelly’s train over the wet paths as we made our way across the venue to the ceremony site. Zach and Kelly were able to say their vows under the tree on the lawn. They even got the amazing fresh scent that comes after the rain. Everything worked out perfectly <3
It’s always an honor when someone trusts me to photograph their wedding. It was especially amazing, however, when it’s the daughter of such a talented photographer. I loved being a part of Zach and Kelly’s day. Watching Lisa interact with Kelly, reassuring her and supporting her not just on the wedding day but in the months leading up to it, was the extra cherry on top! She put her heart and soul into helping Kelly with the wedding. Kelly clearly has some incredible parents. Her father Mike’s speech was definitely a tear-jerker. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room as he recited a poem he wrote detailing his love for Kelly.
As for the happy couple, they were a joy to photograph. Kelly has the most infectious laugh and smile and the two were just so in love! And, of course, thanks to Lisa’s training, they were the perfect subjects, haha! Congratulations again to Kelly and Zach!! Thank you for trusting me to photograph your special day.
P.S. Sorry for the crazy overshare!
