I’m calling this an in-home San Carlos engagement session, but that’s only partly true! Sean and Ashley are friends of Sam’s, so this was a super fun session for me. Funnily enough, these photos were actually taken a week before Sean proposed to Ashley! During the session, Ashley was telling me that the next weekend, Sean had promised to take her away for the weekend on a “surprise trip.” I didn’t even think to connect the dots until Sam came home the following Friday telling me that some of our friends highly suspected Sean was planning on proposing to Ashley! That’s when it clicked that it was probably going to happen during their trip! Sean ended up taking Ashley to Tahoe (one of my favorite places in the world… good choice, Sean!) and proposed to her there.

Ashley is actually a photographer as well, but it wasn’t until recently that we discovered this about each other, haha. We spent some time geeking out over gear and settings and light. It was so fun getting to photograph them in their own environment! Sean and Ashley met at a bar and clicked pretty instantly. It’s easy to see why when you spend some time with them. They are both so incredibly sweet and easy-going.  Sean and Ashley both love board games, so we pulled one out and they played one for a bit. And, of course, I made them dance and cuddle and kiss.

Their apartment was adorable and the perfect backdrop. I loved all the twinkle lights and all of their different pillows. Ashley confessed she has a bit of an obsession, haha! They also have two cats, which I had completely forgotten to ask about before arriving. I’m super allergic to cats, but we turned on the air filter, locked them in the bedroom and it was totally fine! Actually, one of their cats apparently can open the door, so we had to pause the session briefly to make sure that didn’t happen 😉
