And thanks for stopping by! My work reflects my desire to add some whimsy, enchantment and beauty to the world. It is my way of sharing a bit of my heart. I love the laughter and smiles, but I am also drawn to the quiet, intimate moments that are filled with emotion. My goal is to capture the essence of your wedding day, all the little things that come together to paint the big picture.
I’m super excited to share this beautiful Half Moon Bay Anniversary Session with you guys, because the happy couple is my sister and my brother-in-law! I’ve actually been planning for since LAST OCTOBER. No joke. I just went back through my texts to find the date for you 😉 I dragged Sam along with us… and at the last minute, I decided to throw my flash and receivers in my camera bag. I am SO glad I did, because like true Northern California summer, it was incredibly foggy and overcast on the coast.
Half Moon Bay is only thirty minutes away from us, but we rarely head there. Just about a year ago, Sam and I took a weekend and spent it at the Point Montara Lighthouse, which has been converted to a hostel. We were blown away by the gorgeous cliffs covered with sea fig overlooking the crashing waves. I knew immediately that it would be a stunning place to photograph a couple.
I managed to convince my sister to get back into her gorgeous all-lace wedding dress. Funny story, my sister is probably the tiniest person you will ever meet… and yet all three times I have helped her into her dress, there has been a bit of worry over whether she would fit or not. One of my favorite photos from my sister’s wedding is of us laughing as I help zip up her dress because it wasn’t closing.
It was literally one of the hottest days of the year on our side of the mountain in Los Altos. It was so hot, in fact, I didn’t even think to check the weather and I wasn’t planning on bringing a jacket. Luckily, Sam has more foresight when it comes to me being cold, and he both checked and brought along jackets for us, haha. Sure enough, as soon as we started heading north, we saw the fog rolling in over the hills. I was crossing my fingers for a bit of sun, but no luck. I actually love how the weather turned out though! Some golden hour sun would have been fun, but it was so quintessentially Northern California coast to be covered in fog. Add in a little off camera flash, and it was pretty perfect. After a year of marriage, my sister and Arthur are still so incredibly in love… and what’s more, they have so much fun with each other! They were constantly laughing and up for everything, making it so easy to photograph them. We’ve made plans to continue the tradition on their five year anniversary, so I’m looking forward to that!
