I have always been a lover of fairytales and happily-ever-afters, so it’s no surprise that I am head over heels in love with shooting weddings. I am an introvert at heart. This enables me to have a unique perspective when it comes to shooting couples before, during, and after their big day. I notice the details…the quiet little things that make each couples’ story unique. I feed off of their story, and find immense joy in being able to document the intricacies of their tale in my images. I'll capture the anticipation while getting ready, the beautiful details that make your day uniquely yours, the look on your husband-to-be’s face when he sees you for the very first time, the laughter and tears during the speeches, the pride on your parents faces as they watch you start the next chapter of your life and, most importantly, the magic of your love for each other.

Engagement sessions are seriously my favorite! The wedding day is obviously amazing, but at the engagement session, it really is just all about the two of you and your love story. We'll choose a perfect location together (see 8 reasons why in-home sessions are amazing!). All you have to do at the session is relax and have fun! You'll kiss and laugh and dance and just be yourselves together. You'll also get to know me and my photography style a bit better and you'll get some practice being in front of the camera before your wedding!

We'll review your timeline together to make sure that we have enough time for photos while still allowing time for you to be with all the people that are there to celebrate you. I'll scout out your venue beforehand to find the best locations and light. On your wedding day, my goal is to make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible so all you need to do is focus on your love for each other! I'll be there to capture all of the emotions— the laughter, the tears, the joy and even the nerves.

If you chose a package with an album, the very last step is to design the album. We'll work together to pick out your favorite photos that will tell the story of your wedding day. You will get to see PDF proofs of each spread before the album is ordered to ensure that everything meets your expectations. In the end, you'll have a gorgeous album that will be a legacy of the love you have for each other for generations to come.

She photographs with her heart. I immediately felt at home with her. She was patient and kind and warm. I could feel that she was genuinely touched and immersed in our love story and used that to create the incredible images that she delivered to us so quickly. Alice somehow took an intangible thing, my all consuming love Wayne, and recorded it in many amazing images that we will treasure for the rest of our lives.

-lisa

We did a sunset engagement shoot with Alice and she did an amazing job. We received so many compliments on our photos. It was a no brainer to pick her as our wedding photographer even for a destination wedding! She has a way of capturing the emotions of each moment. While the wedding itself is a blur in our memories, we’ll never forget how wonderful it was thanks to her photos.

-julie

Alice was really comfortable to work with, especially when taking photos and trying to be intimate in front of the camera and a complete stranger. We also didn't know how to pose half the time, so she had lots of great ideas. Alice is very talented and we are really happy with our photos!

-stacey

We had a blast at our in-home couples session! It was really easy and felt very natural. Alice just encouraged us to connect with each other and the pictures show a real and beautiful interpretation of our relationship and connection. I am so grateful to have been photographed by Alice and would recommend her to anyone who wants their love captured in an honest and natural way.

-ashley

Alice was attentive, responsive and extremely enthusiastic. When we finally met her in person she was the wonderful person I expected her to be. She was easy to work with and captured our love as it should be captured; PURE. She allowed Lisa and I to share the moment together without feeling like we were being watched. It was an incredible experience and I will forever be grateful for Alice’s influence on this wonderful event.

-wayne

Our wedding was out of state, and we were initially planning on finding a local photographer, but after seeing our engagement photos, we knew it wouldn't be worth finding someone else. She was wonderful at capturing all the key moments, and did so discretely without changing the natural flow of the wedding--we really did not remember being photographed for so many of the best photos!

-catherine

I'm not much for getting my picture taken, but Alice made the experience so fun. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of our wedding (everything else was so busy, it was the most time my husband and I actually spent together). In addition to the photos just generally being fantastic, I feel like they really captured our relationship and the love we have for each other.

-sam

Alice was recommended to me by a friend and I instantly fell in love with her photos. Needless to say, Alice's photos of the ceremony were spectacular; so beautiful and so heartfelt. We were so in love with her photos that we decided to do a one year anniversary shoot with her as well! Throughout both shoots Alice was kind, humorous, non-intimidating, and really fun to work with.

-meredith

We had the best time with Alice for this in-home session. She made us feel comfortable to just be ourselves and love on each other in our cozy condo. Alice is so sweet, while also being professional.  We couldn't have been more happy with how the pictures turned out. It was so nice to have photos of a more casual session, rather than getting all dolled up. She captured our love for each other perfectly.

questions?

Absolutely! I always want to meet potential clients prior to booking. I want to feel like I am the right photographer for you as much as I want you to feel the same way. Even if it’s just for a cup of coffee or over lunch, face-to-face time prior to booking gives us a chance to talk about you and your wedding, as well as address any questions or concerns you might have with regard to the process or hiring a photographer in general.

Can we meet before we book you as our wedding photographer?

Do you work with a second shooter?

The biggest advantage to adding a second shooter is getting two different perspectives on your wedding day. This is especially helpful during the getting ready portion of the day where the bride and groom are rarely in the same room and often in different buildings. Having a second shooter allows me to stay with the bride while my second shooter photographs the guys getting ready.

A second shooter also allows for more variety and creativity in your gallery. When I am the sole photographer, my main priority is making sure I don't miss any important moments. With a second shooter, I have some extra insurance, which lets me get a little more creative in some situations when I know my second shooter has me covered just in case!

Why should I add a second shooter?

No, I definitely have packages without engagement sessions included. However, I highly recommend choosing a package with an engagement session unless you live out of town and aren't planning on coming to the Bay Area. They are a great opportunity for us to get to know one another and to get you comfortable being in front of the camera, which translates to a smoother experience on your wedding day.

Do I have to book an engagement session with my wedding?

I only charge a mileage based travel fee for locations more than 60 miles from 94086 zip code. For locations requiring air travel or more than 3 hours of driving, clients are responsible for travel costs including a night's stay, however, I will take care of the actual travel booking/arrangements.

Do you charge travel fees?

How exciting! Shoot me a message through my contact form or send me an email at alice@aliceche.com. Bonus points if you include the story of how you met or the proposal story! Once I've received the $1000 non-refundable retainer fee and a signed contract, we will be all set.

We love your work! How do we move forward and book you?

I do bring a second shooter with me for those clients who want one. I have several wedding packages available, with or without a second shooter, to meet the needs of my clients. You can see my available packages here. Second shooters are highly recommended for weddings over 100 people. My second shooters are all incredibly talented and I trust them to capture all the special moments of your day with me.
